Onzanso produced the first leather belt for power transmission in Japan in 1891, and then Chojiro Nitta, the founder of Nitta Belt Leather Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (currently Nitta Corporation), which became one of the world's leading belt manufacturers. It was landscaping in this area from the early Taisho era.

The name of "Onzanso" was given by Marshal Togo Heihachiro at the request of the old man who has the name of "Onzan". Initially used to maintain the health of the old man, it became open to the general public during his lifetime.
